Hitman – Square Enix wants the series to carry on
After Square Enix separated themselves from the Hitman developers Io Interactive they now search for Investors to keep the Hitman series alive.
What will happen with the studio Io Interactive is still unclear, but in a financial briefing document by Square Enix its President Yosuke Matsuda states that the company is taking steps to ensure a future for the Hitman series.
“Our decision to withdraw from the Io Interactive A/S business was the result of a review of our portfolio that we conducted as part of our effort to concentrate our resources in order to strengthen our development capabilities,” Matsuda said. “Because the firm is engaged in the development of Hitman and other renowned titles, we are negotiating with prospective external investors capable of ensuring that these titles carry on.”
This means that Square Enix plans to continue the Hitman series with a new developer team and will not let go of it.
